Reaching Aore Island is straightforward once you know the best routes. Most visitors fly into Santo (Espiritu Santo), then take a short boat ride across to Aore.

Flying direct to Santo (SON)

Solomon Airlines operates two direct international flights a week to Santo, on Thursdays and Saturdays. This is the most convenient option if you want to arrive closest to Aore Island.

Flying via Port Vila

Virgin Australia, Jetstar and Qantas all fly into Port Vila (VLI) daily from major Australian cities. From Port Vila, Air Vanuatu operates 12 connecting domestic flights a week to Santo, and the domestic leg takes about one hour.

Getting from Santo airport to Aore Island

Once you land at Santo-Pekoa Airport (SON):

  1. Take a short taxi ride (10–15 minutes) to the Luganville waterfront.
  2. Cross the Segond Channel by boat to Aore Island, usually 5–10 minutes.

Transfers to Lapita Beach can be arranged in advance, so the journey is simple and seamless.

The easiest ways to reach Aore Island

  • Best direct option: Solomon Airlines to Santo, Thursdays and Saturdays.
  • Most frequent option: fly daily into Port Vila, then connect with Air Vanuatu to Santo (12 flights a week).
  • Final leg: a short taxi and boat transfer from Santo airport across to Aore Island.
